Printeriors 2015 launches design-led conference at Koelnmesse, Cologne

Printeriors 2015 launches its inaugural print for interior design led conference and showcase expo at Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany 18-22 May 2015. The conference will take place on 21st May 2015 with luminaries of the design world sharing their expertise and insights with a select audience of industry peers. FX Magazine speaks to Divisional Director Roz McGuinness about this exciting new launch event.

What is Printeriors?

The Printeriors showcase, which is to run alongside FESPA 2015, the world's largest dedicated expo for wide format digital, screen and textile print, will shine a spotlight on the application of print for interior design within the hospitality, corporate, retail and residential sectors. Our exhibitors will showcase the creative potential of printed interiors via state of the art room sets put together by cutting-edge print service providers and international manufactures.

"This unique visual and tactile experience will highlight the enormous potential for customisation inherent in print, which can be used on every kind of surface ranging from wallpaper and deep pile carpets to floor tiling and glass. Exhibitors include HP, Mutoh, Alvisual, Neschen, David Bartlett Designs, Margo Multi Brands, ATC Groupe, Kornit Digital, Retail Communicators bvba, PONGS Technical Textiles and Sihl.

"Interior designers need the tools and techniques at their disposal to bring creative ideas to life within the client budget and to tight project timescales. The appetite for personalisation is also increasing, giving designers the challenge of creating bespoke interiors at an affordable cost. Print is rising to this challenge with new technologies, materials and inks that enable interior designers to achieve stunning effects that can individualise spaces and replicate the look and feel of traditional decorating techniques and luxe materials.

"Whether your project is a luxury boutique hotel room or the new headquarters of a merchant bank, an inner city nightclub or an eco-friendly, futuristic show-house, print can help bring your most imaginative concepts to life".

What kind of content will be on offer at the show?

"We have some fantastic content lined up for the 2015 at Printeriors Conference, which will take place on Thursday May 21 with a focus on the myriad of innovative print applications available for interiors. British designer Wayne Hemingway will take centre stage in a keynote session, helping to unleash a wealth of creative potential for his interior design colleagues.

"Another highlight of the programme will be renowned Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars, who will explain how he sees print brought to life in the architectural design sphere and share the secrets of ground-breaking projects including the first ever 3D printed house.

Other confirmed speakers include: Mark Burmingham and Peter Morrison, Owners of Arc, looking at cost-effective creativity and how digital print is a productive medium enabling the designer to execute creative campaigns efficiently, cost-effectively and to strict deadlines. Michael Berman, CEO of Schoos Design, Inc., will explore print in interior design using case studies of work and discussing how he sees print as an important tool for design.

"Bringing an invaluable insight into long-range Home Interiors macro trends to the programme will be WGSN Homebuildlife, whose presentation will revolve around Print and Pattern Direction for S/S 2016. In the last few seasons we have seen pattern growing to envelop all interiors surfaces, appearing with an increasingly strong presence on textiles, walls, floors and decorative accessories. WGSN will explore this evolving trend in great depth, giving our audience of interior designers, architects and specifiers something really interesting to take away."
