Muji to Sell Minimalist Tiny Huts

An alternative way to embrace nature.

If you’re a fan Muji’s minimalist, clean design then this is the home to buy.

The Japanese brand has just revealed its unique design for a compact house. The nine-square-metre house will go on sale later this year and will be available for purchase in Japan for ¥3,000,000 (£20,989).

The property is made from Japanese timber and encompasses a patio and open living space. The clever layout will welcome you with a window for natural light as well as a sliding glass door, making the home appear much larger than it is.

The brand said, ‘It's not as dramatic as owning a house or a vacation home, but it's not as basic as going on a trip.’

‘Put it in the mountains, near the ocean, or in a garden, and it immediately blends in with the surroundings, inviting you to a whole new life.’

Muji especially designed the house to suit any landscape, so whether it’s by a forest or sea, you’ll be able to adapt your home almost immediately. The house contains a concrete foundation to prevent it from damp while the inside is covered in Japanese cypress plywood and a mortar floor.

‘Even in dirt-prone environments, the floor can be used freely like an earthen floor,' they said. ‘Since the floor surface is nice and smooth, cleaning is easy, and flooring or rugs can be laid anywhere to suit your taste.’

The cost of the Muji hut will cover all construction fees and that of the project’s contractor. Curently it is only available in Japan, but it won't be long before Muji will announce its international sale!
