Recognising extraordinary design.

Milan Design Week encompasses Salone del Mobile (4-9 April), the biggest and best furniture fair in Europe. The week celebrates world-class designs, from cool innovations to alluring exhibitions...there’s no buzz in Milano like this one.

With more than  343,000 attendees and 2,000 exhibitors overall, 34% of them were from other countries, split between the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0 and SaloneSatellite.

Companies showcased their latest launches during the enthralling week. Here are our favourite picks from the show.

iGuzzini were a proud sponsor at Salone del Mobile this year contributing to the week’s wondrous installations as well as presentations. The installation Chronotopic System, a setting which evolves in space and in time, invited four architectural firms to contribute to the key concepts of border crossing, contamination, integration, and belonging. iGuzzini provided 50 Drop by Drop, a custom product.

The company launched their latest collection for 2017 during Milan Design Week. Yanzi, designed by Neri & Hu is a collection of balanced structures, such as branches or perches supporting ‘stylised figures’ to provide a unique approach to their lighting and its overall quality. The open system is ideal for creating lightweight compositions and light landscapes.

Arper is among one of our favourite brands, their minimal yet playful designs always bring a sense of sophistication to each space. Their booth this year was designed by Barcelona firm MAIO and designer Jeannette Altherr, and styled by Stef Bakker. Their ‘Together’ perceptive exemplifies how design can influence a room’s harmony and beauty through elegant design.

One of our favouite new designs from De Padova this year is the Mosaïque sofa by Piero Lissoni. The flexible masterpiece is measured in different modules allowing it to be placed against a wall or as a free-standing island. Exclusive finishes can be added to the armrests or terminal panels in wood, marble or metal.

Piero Lissoni says, ‘You can put it anywhere…and it stands out as creative and alive.’
