Is hospitality a shifting industry?

With people becoming more aware of how design reflects their experience, this could mean a shift for the hospitality and hotel industries – and McCue Crafted Fit are feeling the change first-hand.

2018 has been dubbed by some the “Year of the Spa” – the year that the hospitality and hotel industry expect to see a noticeable change from being labeled ‘service’ industries to becoming more aligned with industries that offer experiences. Instead of simply expecting a bed to sleep in, people are now booking hotels thanks to their added extras – a restaurant, the gym or their spa.

Securing their position at the forefront of the refurbishment and fit-out sectors, McCue Crafted Fit is an interior fit-out specialist that has seen this transformation across the sectors first hand. In fact, they have completed a number of projects that highlight this shift. For example, their expertise has seen them create spas at The Beaumont Hotel and Langham Hotel.

Even more recently, their high-end craftsmanship can be seen within two London locations: Grade II listed building Ten Trinity Square, which is part of the Four Seasons Hotels and Resort Group, and the exemplary Lille Square, a new development at Earls Court.

Within Lillie Square, McCue led the fit-out of the Clubhouse; the area is comprised of a reception area, café, bar, function room, private cinema, pool and spa facilities and a gym. As well as this, the Clubhouse also features a stunning staircase that leads from the ground floor reception area to the basement. During the project, McCue manufactured a range of joinery items including banquette seating, bookcases and lockers, as well as installing feature lighting throughout the Clubhouse.

McCue describes Ten Trinity Square as one of their most memorable fit-outs to date, with their work on the project including architectural metalwork, carpeting, timber floors and beautiful gold mosaic flooring detail. The company was tasked with fitting out many areas of the five-star hotel, which included the Spa and the sensational Rotunda.

Based in Greater Belfast, McCue has more than sixty years’ experience across a range of sectors and pride themselves on “being able to help clients fully realise their concepts and deliver their vision to the highest standard, however big or small”. The Spa at The Four Seasons Hotel, Ten Trinity Square proves their expertise, with the design being shortlisted for ‘Best Spa’ at the prestigious 2017 AHEAD awards.

With a sparkling portfolio that includes luxury hospitality clients - including, just in London, The Savoy Hotel and The Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard – if McCue feel that this year will be the ‘Year of the Spa’, then perhaps that’s advice worth listening to.
