US-based Dutch East Design is longing for floating hotels
We are fascinated by lighter-than-air travel. We want to experience drifting slowly, observing nature and humankind’s most beautiful and remote landscapes, from just a few hundred feet above the earth’s surface. This is imagined from a luxury boutique hotel airship, which has a vibrant social component, as well as well-appointed cabins. With onboard precipitation and solar collection, and regular stops for fresh local produce, this magical lighter-than-air cruise can sustain itself for short trips or extended, epic journeys.
Dutch East Design is a New York-based branding and interior design studio led by partners Dieter Cartwright, William Oberlin and Larah Moravek. Specialising in hospitality, its projects include bars, restaurants, and hotels throughout the United States and Central America, while they look forward to taking on new collaborations further afield.
