UK-based firm Graham Interior Fitout (IFO) has been awarded a £1.6 million ($2.45 million) mall and food hall refurbishment at St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool.

To be carried out in six phases, the refurbishment project involves extensive mall refurbishment with new central mall seated areas, and major upgrades to the food court, with upgrades to fast food outlets such as McDonalds, Subway and KFC.

Apart from that it also includes preparation works and service upgrades for the four remaining outlets in preparation for new and additional fast food retailers. The toilets, crèche and customers service areas will be upgraded extensively to provide an enhanced customer experience.

Keeping the centre fully operational, significant elements of this project will be completed during night shift. Scheduled to take 24 weeks to complete the work, the refurbishment work will start on the site on 24 April 2013.

Further renovation phases are also being planned as part of the upgrades to the St Johns centre to provide greater competition to the city's Liverpool One shopping outlets.
