Furniture Makers calls for entries for Export Award

The Furniture Makers’ Company, a City of London livery company and the furnishing industry’s charity, is looking for UK furnishing manufacturers that are excelling in overseas markets to apply for its Export Award.

Part of The Furniture Makers’ Company’s Manufacturing Guild Mark, the Export Award was launched in 2016 to recognise excellence in promoting and selling British manufactured furniture, bedding and furnishings abroad.

UK manufacturers are invited to submit an application for consideration by a panel of judges who will select the manufacturer deemed to have made the best export initiative or effort in the previous year. The deadline for entries is 10 July 2018.

The award has previously been won by fabrics manufacturer Panaz and office furniture manufacturer Boss Design.

Ben Burbidge, Manufacturing Guild Mark chairman, said: “The goal of the Export Award is to recognise and champion companies that are showing the way for British manufacture in export markets. The award recognises all aspects of how a business operates, including development initiatives and overseas’ markets penetrated. We encourage manufacturers of all sizes to submit applications as the size of the business concerned will be taken into account.”

Entry forms are available from The Furniture Makers’ Company website – www.furnituremakers.org.uk/excellence. Questions about this award can be answered by Doreen Oddy, guild marks manager at The Furniture Makers’ Company, by telephone on 020 7256 5558 or email: guildmarks@furnituremakers.org.uk.
