Companies including Fritz Hansen, Humanscale and Bisley Office Furniture have donated furniture pieces for the new London headquarters of human rights charity Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF).

Opened this month by the actor Emma Thompson, who is president of the charity, the new HQ was designed by BDG Architecture + Design. The practice worked alongside furniture consultant Dovetail to create a traditional workspace, consulting rooms, and a therapy area.

Founded in 2005, HBF provides support for those who have suffered the worst of man's inhumanity - unimaginable violence through torture, human trafficking, slavery, domestic violence and other human cruelty.

More than 25 companies and individuals provided support for the project, with some £300,000 given in gifts and time.

Gill Parker, joint managing director of BDG Architecture + Design, said: 'The Helen Bamber Foundation is an amazing organisation and it's been a delight to work with such talented and caring people.

'The space has been transformed from an unloved and dilapidated state into a safe haven for HBF clients and staff. The support from the contract furniture industry has been fantastic and helped us to realise our vision for this unique space.'

Steve Fitch, director of Dovetail Furniture said: 'The response from my peers in the industry has been amazing and truly heartening. Companies of all sizes have donated generously and wholeheartedly.'
