Gareth Gardner gets sheepish over two new installations in the window of Brook Brothers...

fx

Squire and Partners head of interiors Maria Cheung attaches the last of 800 handmade golden sheep that formed two shimmering ovine sculptures in the windows of Brooks Brothers on London's Regent Street. The installation was part of the RIBA Regent Street Windows Project. One of the sheep 'chandeliers' was encased in a box lined with Brooks Brothers' blue pinstripe while the other was in hand-applied Dutch gold leaf. Brooks Brothers is the USA's oldest apparel brand and its trademark since 1850 has been the Golden Fleece - the inspiration for this project - which is also the historical symbol of wool merchants.
