Located in the heart of Switzerland, one hour from Zurich, twisting roads lead to the beautiful estate overlooking the stunning Vierwaldstättersee, comparable to scenes from the Sound of Music.

The blue-shuttered hotel is placed on a peaceful meadow at over 3000ft above altitude where the air is filled with the clanging of cowbells. Enclosed by the most exquisite examples of Swiss landscape, the hotel neighbours nature, mountains and the glistening Lake Lucerne.

Built in 1905, Emil Durrer-Traxler was inspired by big foreign hotels on his travels and was determined to design and construct a hotel of his own, without the use of an architect.

Hotel Villa Honegg reopened in 2011 after a three year refit that saw its shingle-attired façade restored to its art nouveau glory, while its interior was gutted to make way for a luxurious haven in cream, toffee, gold and sienna.

The stand out feature of the hotel is without a doubt the beautifully designed infinity pool which is heated to 34°C and blends seamlessly with the lake and sky, so it’s almost impossible to tell where the pool meets the view.

Award-winning London designers Jestico + Whiles have used texture to create remarkable results; wood, leather, stone and velvet conjure up the Alpine retreat at its most luxurious.

Huge mountainscapes from a resident gallery complete the look, keeping the Swiss traditions and flair that Traxler originally designed mixed with the contemporary desires.

For its small size, it is a one of a kind in terms of what it has to offer - a haven of peace, privacy and luxury all squeezed in to its 23 guest rooms and suites.
