Dine in a ‘treehouse’ at Madera

Full of raw, earthy materials, Madera at Treehouse London is an exciting new restaurant offering first-rate Mexican cuisine.

Last month saw the arrival of LA-based The Madera Group’s first restaurant in the UK – Madera at Treehouse London. Situated in Marylebone’s Langham Place, on the site that was previously Saint George’s Hotel, Madera sits on the fifteenth floor of the new, playful hotel, Treehouse London. A bright, leafy space, Madera is the ‘little sister’ of famous restaurant Toca Madera (found in LA and Scottsdale) – and, like its cross-Atlantic sisters, Madera at Treehouse London offers a sophisticated, modern, and organic twist on traditional Mexican cuisine.

To enter the restaurant, guests make their way into the hotel and follow tree-lined wallpaper from the ground floor up to the fifteenth level; here, they are greeted by a space that seems to have been inspired by maximalist and biophilia. Thanks to the hotel’s unique position, diners will also immediately see endless views across central London through the large windows, including the bright lights of Oxford Circus and Regents Street below.

Madera’s interiors focus on a raw, earthy aesthetic; pot pants hang across the ceiling, vying for space and creating the sense that guests are looking up at a skyline. Wicker is prominent throughout the restaurant – in everything from chairs to the large lamp shades – while hardwood floors lie underfoot. Even some of the walls have been finished with tree bark as wallpaper, making the space truly feel like a ‘treehouse’.

The expansive windows flood Madera with natural light, and diners can choose window-side tables to fully experience the magnificent view of London’s skyline. The design team has also brought an edge of glamour to the restaurant, through industrial hints of concrete and dark metal finishes. Old-fashioned rugs and warm lighting make each spaces feel cosy and intimate; the atmosphere is laid back, but energy flows through the restaurant thanks to upbeat staff and rhythmic music.

Already a bustling, busy restaurant, Madera is set to be a London hotspot and will have something to offer everyone – it’s open throughout the day and into the evening.  Embracing health and wellness with farm-fresh plates, Madera’s menu will focus on sharing plates that concentrate on the bold, exciting flavours of Mexico, combining experimental dining with Mexican cuisine. The menu – which includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes – is complemented by an organic, ingredients-driven drinks list, designed as a ‘farm-to-glass’ mixology programme that will delight and surprise diners.
