Design Collective designs renovated Fox Cineplex in California

James Blissett, a design consultant from the Seattle-based firm, has released design plans for renovation of Fox Cineplex Theatres in Banning.

Presented before the Community Redevelopment Agency, the design focuses on a regal look. Three auditoriums of the theater will be decorated in shades of gold, purple and blue, and the entrances will be a deep red. The lobby will feature gold-colored tiles with an aim to ‘keep it simple but really elegant’.

The renovated look will add more sconces - gold in color - that already grace the interior of the theater. Blissett was reported stating that black fixtures will be installed in the restrooms and the walls will receive a ‘splash of color’. He adds that the game room and concession area will also be renovated.

The exterior facade will have a new color scheme with a gold tan in the background and purplish gray accents. The pedestrian levels will have new tiles and the marquee will be redone in purple and blue.

On the back of the building facing Interstate 10, an illuminated sign reading Fox will be installed. Michael Frydrych, the owner of the theater, also plans to install a new sound system and high-back leather seats.

The Community Redevelopment Agency has agreed to contribute $650,000 toward the movie theater's renovation.

Construction on the exterior is slated to begin in July and is expected to reach completion by September after which interior work is expected to start. The interior work is expected to wrap up by November 2009.
