Decor & Tino Seghal
Fondation Boghossian – Villa Empai, Brussels Until 29 January 2017

For me it’s a Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster kind of season. the artist also participates in this show about the role of decoration in modern and contemporary art that occupies all of the fabulous Villa Empain – itself a highly embellished, art deco place. With works of marcel Broodthaers, Daniel Buren, Pierre Huyghe, Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol, just to name a few, the show is co-curated by Tino Sehgal, who will also have a major solo show at the Palais Tokyo.

Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster: Pynchon Park
Maat – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Lisbon Until 20 March 2017

in the first site-specific commission for the iconic central space of the new maat building, we asked Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster to reflect upon our curatorial program’s inaugural theme: Utopia/ Dystopia. The result is Pynchon park, a fictional environment where aliens would be able to observe human behaviour in optimal conditions. With its 24 minute ‘day cycle,’ it promotes both interaction entertainment.

It’s the standout off-site show from the Hayward Gallery during its two-year refurbishment.

 Los Angeles – A Fiction
Astrup Fearnley Museet, OSLO Until 22 January 2017

DACS, 2016. Courtesy the Artist and Esther Schipper, Berlin
This is one I wouldn’t like to miss: Los Angeles: a Fiction is a critical and artistic reflection on La’s darker side, away from the lights of easy clichés, beach life and over the counter joy. a group of artists and writers explore a fictional and raw view on La, through architecture, geography, sociology, class and race. With the city being rediscovered through contemporary perspectives in its daily existence, this seems to be one of those exciting moments in which contemporary art truly intersects with urban culture.

House of One – Kuehn Malvezzi

Marc Domage

A chance to see the work of an architectural practice that has been working closely with artists and galleries across Europe. Berlin based architectural trio Kuhn Malvezzi created House OF One in 2012, as the result of an international competition organized by Petriplatz Prayer and teaching Hall, a space for Christians, Muslims and Jews to worship simultaneously and respectfully of one another. An architectural building that comes close to a delicate art piece is presented in one of Paris’ hot venues for interdisciplinary thinking.
