Designjunction
The Sorting Office, London
18 - 21 September

Designjunction, The Sorting Office, London

Cut through the chaff at this 'curated' design show in the West end. The real star is the building itself, and this is the last chance to see it before it falls victim to London's 'luxury-living' redevelopment juggernaut. Along with staples like Anglepoise, g Plan and Zanotta, look out for the innovative halo lounge chair by Michael Sodeau and the Ventura London next generation exhibit. Tired souls will want to take a break at Alessi's pop-up caffè all'italiana. And Blueprint is there as well. thedesignjunction.co.uk

Decorex
Syon Park
21 - 24 September

Decorex, Syon Park

For those who like a thicker pile on their velvet, Decorex rises to the classy end of the London interior world. More crystal here than Harrods' lighting department, plenty of hand-carved wood, silk tassels, hand-painted wallpaper and this year, an 18th-century theme. eight design-maker collaborations, based on William Hogarth's A rake's Progress, set the stage by interpreting one of the eight paintings in the original cycle. Yours truly reworks The Levée with contemporary luxury and swagger. decorex.com

The Nakeds
The Drawing Room, Bermondsey
25 September - 29 November

The Nakeds, The Drawing Room, Bermondsey

An enclave of cool, Bermondsey is not only home to the White cube mothership but to the equally cavalier drawing room. This month you'll find a truly mixed show on the theme of nudity. With big names from past and present, the show promises to bypass the obvious and delve into the hidden folds of the human corpus. Featuring mainstays such as Louise Bourgeois, Joseph Beuys and Andy Warhol alongside new works by Stewart helm, Nicola Tyson and Enrico David. drawingroom.org.uk

Design Week
Beijing
26 September - 3 October

Design Week, Beijing

Back in the city and creative batteries recharged, this truly is design month, not only in London, Vienna, Bratislava, Brussels and Paris, but in Beijing too. (Apparently everywhere wants one.) It's also autumn/winter 2015 fashion week in New York, London, Milan, Paris. If you can bear the smog, highlights in the Chinese capital include Design Hop with interventions in the populist central area of Dashilar, the ex-totalitarian enclaves of the 798 Art Zone, the 751 D-Park and the Caochangdi Art Village. bjdw.org

Cybernetic Serendipity
ICA London
14 October - 30 November

Cybernetic Serendipity, ICA London

A capsule restaging of this vintage show from 1968, and one the most visionary of exhibitions at the ever-reinventing ICA. Random systems employed by artists and composers paralleled the scientist's quest for early cybernetic devices. With its playful yet technological undercurrent, Cybernetic Serendipity set the agenda for the digital worlds we now inhabit. More than 130 works including photographs and reviews of the original show reveal ground-breaking work drawn from a host of disciplines. ica.org.uk

Open Museum
Open City, Maxxi Rome
24 October - 30 November

Open Museum, Open City, Maxxi Rome

A rare opportunity to suspend our dependence on the visual, and instead read the city according to its sounds. overrunning the entire museum, this extensive project bridges artistic output, architectural intervention and input from the visitors themselves. As if Piranesi had transposed his assemblages of fragments into an empire of sounds drawn from the urban environment, this show aims to parallel the unique layering and complexity that is Rome today. fondazionemaxxi.it
