British Council in South Africa initiative

A special edition of the British Council’s Maker Libraries has gone on display at GUILD 2014 in South Africa, marking the launch of Cape Town as 2014 World Design Capital.

The project has been launched in South Africa as part of the British Council's Connect ZA programme, aimed at creating a dialogue between makers in the UK and South Africa. It hopes to establish spaces for collaboration and connection and explore the role of the library as a fundamental space for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. The core elements of each library space are a gallery, a library of books on making and a making space open to the public.
