The coolest offices in the world

Students at EACL University have designed office cubicles that could make going to work a lot more fun.

The cubicles are based on Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's Workbays system of a set of flexible dividers that they designed for Vitra. The dividers enable offices to be split into different areas, creating a lot of scope for more creative spaces at work.

The students designed cubicles as an alternative to ridged office structures. Each student designed a cubicle for a specific function.

These included: A bar

If this was in your office you wouldn’t even need to leave the building for happy hour!

There was also a bedroom.

And a teeny tiny office garden.

After seeing what is possible, we got to thinking which companies have the best offices?

Here’s what we came up with:

LinkedIn London office:

Denton Associates were appointed the job of making LinkedIn’s London office as cool as its foreign counterparts. With this in mind, the design team created a space inspired by the city. The office includes Boris Bikes for chairs and a red bus façade.

Inventionland Design Factory, Pittsburgh

Located in Pittsburgh, this is the worlds biggest inventions factory. As the headquarters of Davison Design & Development, the space is designed to get creative ideas flowing. In amongst this fantasy land sits 230 employees, some working from a pirate ship, others from a tree house.

Selgas Cano Architecture Office, Spain

It should come as no surprise that this unique office is the work place of an architect’s firm. Selgas Cano's design is situated in the middle of a forest. Half the building is glass to make the most of the beautiful scenery.

Google Telaviv

Google’s Telaviv offices may even beat their headquarters in California. Step into a world where instead of taking the stairs you hop on a slide and where private phone calls take place from an oversized bee hive.

Pallotta Teamworks

The headquarters for this US Charity event company was built by Clive Wilkinson Architects on a shoestring. Built in a raw warehouse, shipping containers act as offices and employees work in air conditioned islands. The office reflects the charity’s mantra of responsible, sustainable ways of living on the planet. The project won several design awards, including a national AIA Honor Award.

Urban Outfitters Corporate campus, Philadelphia

Located in Philadelphia, this renovated shipyard oozes cool. The open plan office space offers relaxing bean bags for employees to chill out on and long benches for designers to work from. The giant windows and high ceilings mean the office is always light and airy. There is no danger of creativity being stifled here.

Banhof, White Mountain Office, Stockholm

Located 30 meters underground, this office looks like it would be home to a heinous Bond villain not eployees of an internet provider company called Banhof. Designed by Albert France-Lanord Architects, the building fuses nature and nurture. Some rooms are completely over powered by the rock giving the impression that you have entered into the Bat Cave whereas others have a compeltely corporate feel reflecting how humans have altered the natural landscape around us.
