Pizza Pilgrims opened its doors to its sustainability focused pizzeria in Selfridges in late 2021 with what it says is a glimpse at how all pizzerias should look by 2030.

Formulated by CTC Design and Pizza Pilgrims’ co-founder James Elliott, the design is ‘forward thinking’ with sustainable materials and recycled or vintage furniture. Examples of this include upholstery being replaced with fully vegan Pinatex and tabletops crafted from plastic waste.

The timber floors are reclaimed and the giant wall mural of the bay of Naples has been created from 2,000 recycled glass water bottles. Diners also experience the theatre of Neapolitan cooking, from the open-planned kitchen and dough-preparing glass viewing room.

The design reflects the principles of the food too, with the pizza company working with forward-thinking food producers on innovations such as hydroponic basil, regenerative wheat and organic wines. Pizza Pilgrims plans to use its Selfridges location as an innovation hub from which it hopes to implement changes in its other pizzerias.’
