Urban Salon senior designer David Germond examines priceless manuscripts collected by Edward IV, featured in the British Library’s exhibition Royal Manuscripts: The Genius of Illumination. The show, which runs until 13 March, features medieval and renaissance illuminated manuscripts collected by the English kings and queens between the 9th and 16th centuries, providing a uniquely colourful and beautiful collection from a period fraught with plague, horror and bloodshed. The exhibition design, created by Urban Salon Architects in collaboration with graphic designer John Morgan Studio, incorporates a white double-height nave and uses a variety of geometries and colours to orientate visitors through different historical periods.
