The winner of the fourth prestigious Roca Jump The Gap international competition was announced last week at the recently opened Roca London Gallery, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Ron Arad and Javier Mariscal presented Michal Warykiewicz's In & Out shower with a trophy and 5,000 euros after being chosen as the winner from a shortlist of 30.

The In & Out shower is an innovative concept that creates an exterior and interior shower, all in one. Built on top of a circular base, on which stand two columns with fixed semi-circular glass screens. The shower rotates 180 degrees, transforming bathroom shower mode into garden shower. Not just a good bit of kit for our naturist friends, this shower also works well as a swimming pool shower, if you're lucky to own your pool. When using the indoor mode, privacy is ensured through the activation of liquid crystals, which make the glass opaque.

To add a touch of fun to the occasion, Ron Arad challenged guests to a game of table tennis on his uniquely unconventional ping pong table. Ron Arad headed up an impressive jury of judges comprising leading personalities and key names from the fields of architecture and design, including Marcel Wanders and Gilda Bojardi - editor in chief, Interni magazine, Italy.

Launched in 2010 at 100% Design, the fourth edition of Jump The Gap saw more than 3000 applicants from 92 different countries entering the competition.
