Architects MVRDV and COBE have won an international design competition to transform a former factory in Roskilde, Denmark into a multifunctional creative hub. MVRDV and COBE's proposal for ROCKmagneten is to turn the former soulless concrete factory into a rock-music museum.

The site is located between the Roskilde city centre and the festival grounds of the annual Roskilde Rock Festival. The brief required preservation of the halls of the former factory and the informal character of the site, which is currently used by artists, skaters and musicians. The plan is for future buildings and temporary pavilions to centre around a large plaza connecting the halls and the ROCKmagneten with the main street.

The striking design's most prominent feature is the gold spikes, which will cover the entire building, and part of the outside will be covered in speakers, to be used for outdoor events in the plaza.
