Entry is now open for the 2012 Design Guild Mark.

The scheme, which rewards excellence in the design of furniture in volume production, is open to designers working in Britain and British designers working abroad.

Launched in 2007 by The Furniture Makers Company (also known as the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers), the Design Guild Mark is presented annually according to four criteria: design, materials, manufacture and function. The intention is that the designers will receive due recognition and the industry will be made more aware of the importance of investment in design.

Products awarded the Guild Mark last year include the Cobi chair, designed by Luke Pearson Lloyd for Steelcase and the Lima chair designed by Katerina Zachariades for Morgan.

The deadline for applications is February 27.
